From degradation to splendor
The Transformation

Drag the timeline to compare the Reggia di Rivalta before its restoration—marked by centuries of decline—with the residence returned to its 18th-century splendor.
Before the restoration
Centuries of decline
After the Napoleonic occupation of 1796 and the demolitions of the nineteenth century, only a single wing of the eighteenth-century complex survived, but in a state of decay; the gardens had been converted to agricultural use.
After the restoration
The rebirth
The restoration work completed between 2024 and 2025 restored the surviving south wing to its former glory and redeveloped the 26 hectares of the park, with fountains, a secret garden, and a new green area.
Este era
The Royal Palace in 1700
In its eighteenth-century glory, the complex unfolded like a country palace worthy of the Este court: porticoed courtyards, grand staircases, and Italian-style gardens arranged according to Baroque geometry.
